Sycamore Grove

Okay. So, in the course of a week, I've moved, finished classes, finished (nearly) three metals projects, and taken three finals. I'm posting from school because we won't have cable or internet until next Sunday.

I'm really not dead. I'll be back soon, with pictures.

To let everyone know what is going on with me.

1. Wedding stuff is making me crazy. T minus less than two weeks until the big day, and all I can feel is a sort of vague relief mixed with a less than vague dread. I'm still in the planning stages of some things (ie: food) and am trying not to freak out about the fact that I don't actually have contacts to wear for the day. Okay, I have to stop writing about it lest I freak the fuck out again.

2. Nick got his job. I mean, he's had it since before he graduated, but he started it. He's doing really well at it too. we're expecting his first raise before the end of the month. And once we're married, I'll have insurance, too.

3. Also re: Nick, he took this test before graduation, and the highest scorer would win $1000. Well, he got an email today, and HE WON! That's a thousand dollars towards the honeymoon, or paying off the credit cards or something.

4. I've been babysitting for Indiana Eponine's daughter, Munchkin, this summer. It's really fun, and in fact, I'm posting this from their house (don't tell her!). She's a really good kid, and so much fun.

5. You may notice that I've added a flickr badge over the in the sidebar. I've caved and made a flickr account. Sigh. I feel so trendy. It really is very convenient, though. There's plenty of Munchkin photos up there, in case you were a sucker for a cute face.

6. Umm... There is no six. I should have ended on five. Oh, well. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, but bear with me if I stutter a bit. Crap, I have to go. Munchkin's teasing the fish.

The Munchkin just went down for a nap and I thought I'd take this opportunity to make a tiny update.

Nick was home sick today. He wasn't feeling at all well yesterday, and so when he woke up at five and was still wretched, he decided to take the day. He's chillin' at home today, trying to recover from whatever is currently kicking his ass.

It was a good thing he stayed home today, though, because we went to get our marriage license. I thought I'd have to have a stupid "pre-marital exam" but I didn't. We also stopped by our jeweler's to see about engraving the rings with the date. Nick's will be fine (it's like the One Ring, except in white gold) but mine might be a bit thin to engrave properly. The jeweler is refinishing my engagement ring, too, so that it's as shiny and pretty. It's nice, but I'm wandering around with no ring on my finger and it feels weird.

It's hard to believe everything is going so very fast. Only ten days and I'll be Courtney Pritchard. Odd thought, that.

There's only a few more things to do. And so, a list:

1. Get the vases for the centerpieces.
2. Get said vases to the florist and obtain an estimate on how much it'll be.
3. Buy napkins for the reception.
4. Get my shoes.
5. Finalize menu (which pretty much consists of calling the guy and telling him that what I told him before is fine)
6. Make Kerry's dress.
7. Make a headpiece (maybe)
8. Hem my dress.
